Rockland Moves Forward With Summit Park Hospital Closure

RAMAPO, N. Y. -- Summit Park Hospital and Nursing Care Center is being "disassembled" after Rockland County officials decided not to pursue selling the Ramapo facility, according to the Journal News/lohud.

No new patients have been admitted to the hospital and several of its programs have stopped. County Executive Ed Day said waiting any longer to try to keep it open would risk the county's financial future, the Journal News said.

Rockland County officials have been negotiating with a private buyer for the $32 million sale of the property. But the buyer backed out in September, and even though the buyer offered to restart negotiations, county officials doubt whether the buyer can finance the purchase, the Journal News reported.
