Police received the call at 9 p.m. about an elderly male with dementia who wandered away from his Hillcrest area residence and could not be located, police said.
The department was notified 15 minutes after the person left home and the first officer on the scene immediately broadcast a complete description to responding units.
An officer checking local business areas located the missing elderly man and safely reunited him with family members, police said.
Officers said the incidence points to the importance of reporting missing persons cases right away so officers can respond quickly.
