Man Dies Shortly After Being Struck By Train In Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, N. Y. -- The man struck Tuesday by a train while crossing the tracks near the Dutch Lane crossing in Spring Valley died shortly after the accident, lohud.com reports.

The unidentified man was hit by a New Jersey Transit commuter train on the Pascack Valley Line around 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 22. He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, and was later pronounced dead, lohud.com says.

The accident is under investigation, but officials say the train's engineer sounded the horn after spotting the man as the train approached a curve. The train was traveling about 30 mph and couldn't stop in time, lohud.com reports.
