After ongoing negotiations with the Board President, public school advocates, SED, Assembly and Senate Leadership, we were able to come together and assure that the East Ramapo public school students would finally be receiving the educational and extracurricular opportunities that had been eliminated over the last several years.

Unfortunately, our agreement didn’t make it in the budget.

This would have been a significant step forward providing guidance, collaboration and comprehensive oversight by the Commissioner of SED, with monitors continuing in their role with the board, superintendents and educators.

We are as committed today as we ever been to solving the issues facing East Ramapo and look forward to working with everyone to accomplish that before the session is over in June.

We have worked hard to bring all parties together and we are closer to an agreement on a long term plan for oversight and additional funding for the district then we have ever been.
