Yet, it’s the trash and graffiti that some inconsiderate visitors leave behind that has folks talking — if not grumbling, according to a report by lohud.com.
Old concrete cisterns along the trail have been turned into makeshift dumpsters and everything from folding chairs to inflatable rafts have been found abandoned at illegal campsites, lohud.com reported.
No one's blaming the Palisades Interstate Park; it doesn't have enough staff, and the lake’s location makes it hard to patrol, the lohud.com story said.
Locals fed up with litterbugs are taking action, including putting up signs reminding visitors to take their trash with them, while others are suggesting getting the Boy Scouts, or another organization, involved in a massive cleanup, according to the lohud.com report.
