Saxophone player and smooth jazz artist Beckenstein was born May 14, 1951 and turns 65 on Saturday.
He formed the jazz fusion group Spyro Gyra and launched BearTracks Studios in Suffern.
He started playing saxophone at the age of seven and has played solo on several records.
Beckenstein's his first solo album, Eye Contact, was number 23 on the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums.
