A state psychologist is accused of sexually abusing numerous underage victims at a New York State juvenile detention center going back years. Maya Hayes, of Albany, was arrested Friday, April 12, following a New York State Police investigation into allegations of abuse at Columbia County’s Brookwood Secure Center, located in the town of Claverack. A former Spring Valley building inspector faces up to four years in prison after being found guilty by a jury of issuing false certificates and a host of other charges. Walter Booker, 57, of Spring Valley, was found guilty Tuesday in connection with a scheme that allowed another person to operate a daycare business in a dwelling that was not large enough while serving as the Chief Building Inspector for the village of Spring Valley, said the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. Westchester Teen Sentenced For Assault During High School Stabbing
A teenager has been sentenced to time behind bars after pleading guilty to assault for his role in a high school stabbing in Westchester County last year. Bryan Stamps, 16, has been sentenced as a Juvenile Offender to a term of between one to three years in state prison for first-degree assault, for his role in the stabbing at New Rochelle High School of a classmate. A former Rockland County woman who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing her son lost a bid on Friday in the New York State Court of Appeals to have her murder conviction reviewed, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A.
