Sullivan County resident David Gizinski, age 37, of Liberty and the owner of Gizinski Construction, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 16 for the incident in November 2023. Fraud Task Force Nabs 3 In Region For Misue Of Public Benefits, Officials Say Three residents from the region have been charged with misuse of public benefits by a Fraud Task Force. The arrests took place throughout Sullivan County during September and October. Those charged include: Stephanie Scanna, age 39, of Neversink was arrested and charged on Saturday, Sept. 16 with petit larceny and misuse of food stamps. It is alleged that Scanna stole $380.13 in SNAP benefits from the Sullivan County Department of Social Services by using a benefit card that belonged to a deceased individual. Sullivan County resident Drew Botsford, age 46, of the town of Neversink was charged on Sunday, Oct. 8 with second-degree murder. Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, said officers responded to a residence on Bradley Avenue in the town of Neversink for a report of a cardiac arrest. The head-on crash took place in Sullivan County around 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25 on Route 55 in the town of Neversink. 18-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash In Region A man from the region died in a single-vehicle rollover crash. Sullivan County resident Robert J. Lands, age 18, of Neversink, was killed around 3:50 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, after rolling his car at 482 Stanton Corners Road in the town of Liberty, said the New York State Police. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, an investigation revealed that a 1995 Dodge-Ram was traveling on Stanton Corners Road and failed to negotiate a curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway on the north shoulder and overturn.  Lands was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.

Injured Owl Fledgling Saved By Wildlife Officers In Area An injured owl fledgling was saved by members of the Department of Environmental Conservation after finding it in Sullivan County. The owl was saved after the DEC received a report on Wednesday, April 22, in the town of Neversink. Department officers Glen Parker and Christopher Doroski responded and were able to local the owl and capture it without incident.  The owl was taken to the New Paltz Animal Hospital where it was evaluated and determined to be underweight and suffering from an injured keel.  The owl will be taken to the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center…
