Temple Shooting: 28-Year-Old Federally Charged After Gunshots At NY Synagogue
The man accused of opening fire at a New York synagogue on the first day of Hanukkah has been federally charged.
Mufid Fawaz Alkhader, age 28, of Schenectady, appeared in Albany federal court on Friday, Dec. 8, where he was arraigned on one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
According to the criminal complaint, Alkhader approached Albany’s Temple Israel, located on New Scotland Avenue, at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.
He then fired the weapon twice into the air, prosecutors allege.

Capital Region Woman, Dog Missing Over Week Spotted On Video In NYC
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a New York woman who has been missing for over a week.
Alexandra McGuinness, age 42, of Albany, was last seen Wednesday, June 28, in Albany, near Grove and Helderberg avenues, according to Albany Police.
Surveillance video showed her the following day walking in Manhattan with rolling luggage and her black labradoodle, “Batman.”
McGuinness is described as 5-feet-6-inches tall and approximately 115 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray coat, blue jeans, and white shoes.

After several years of old-fashioned detective work, two men have been charged in the fatal stabbing of a fellow inmate that took place on Christmas Eve at a prison in Northern Westchester.
Both Steven Smith, age 60, of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Allah-Son-Allah, age 53, of Albany, have been indicted in the 1995 fatal stabbing of Michael Jones that took place at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday, June 6.
