An official toxicology report confirmed a New York grandmother, mother, and four children all died from taking an over-the-counter sleep medication, authorities said Friday, Sept. 11.
Police said Amy Steadman, 64, and Sarah Myers, 44, gave Myers’ four children fatal doses of diphenhydramine, then took suicidal doses themselves, the Albany Times-Union reported.

A man has been convicted of attempted murder after shooting a man twice in the head inside an Orange County home, prosecutors said.
Anthony Parrish, 56, was found guilty of all charges against him following a jury trial in Orange County Court on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

Pilot's Final Facebook Post May Have Revealed Couple's Destination Hours Before Deadly Crash
Hours before a training aircraft crashed in a wooded area in Massachusetts, killing both people aboard, one of the victims shared where he was headed that morning.
Kenneth R. Moore, 66, of Pembroke, posted on Facebook at 9:39 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, that he was flying to Northampton for the Three County Fair. Moore and Marcy Asbury, 62, of East Falmouth, were later identified as the victims on board the plane. Asbury's Facebook profile shows the two were dating. Both were killed in the crash.

A Long Island man wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend was shot and killed Wednesday, Sept. 9 outside a hotel in Massachusetts, police said.
Brandon William Hampson, 55, stabbed Rachel Frislid, 62, to death inside her home in Sayville, NY, on Thursday, Sept. 3, the Suffolk County (NY) Police Department said Thursday, Sept. 10.
