Long Island 17-Year-Old Who Died During Hockey Game Was 'Beacon Of Sportsmanship, Leadership'
The Long Island hockey community is mourning the loss of a rising young star who collapsed and died during a charity game over Thanksgiving weekend. Connor Kasin, age 17, lost consciousness at around 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, during an intermission at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage, Nassau County Police said. Kasin, a senior defenseman at Massapequa High School, was given CPR by bystanders and, later, Nassau County Police medics. He was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital. 1 Killed After House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island
One person died in an overnight house fire on Long Island. The blaze broke out at around 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in Seaford. First responders observed the second floor of the home on Crescent Cove Drive engulfed in flames. The Seaford Fire Department extinguished the flames, but the residence sustained extensive damage. An 85-year-old man was removed from the residence and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 8, by a hospital physician. 20-Year-Old From Bethpage Accused Of Touching Woman Near School In Seaford
A Long Island man has been accused of touching a woman near a local school following a weeks-long investigation. The incident happened on Sunday, June 23, in Seaford. According to Nassau County Police detectives, the woman, age 34, was walking in the rear of 751 Seamans Neck Road when she was approached by the suspect, who inappropriately touched her and fled on foot. On Monday, Aug. 13, police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Michael Hernandez of Bethpage. He has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse. Local leaders and loved ones are mourning the loss of a Long Island politician and former police officer following his unexpected death. Nassau County resident and Hempstead Councilman Christopher Carini died at the age of 49 on Sunday, July 14, while on a family vacation in Florida, relatives confirmed. Man Touches Woman Near Elementary School On Long Island: Police
Police are searching for a man who allegedly committed a sex offense near an elementary school. It happened on Sunday, June 23 in Seaford, according to Nassau County Police. At about 5:30 p.m. that day, a 34-year-old woman was walking in the back of East Broadway Elementary School, which is located at 751 Seamans Neck Road.
