7 Charged In Overnight Sobriety Checkpoint In Central Islip
Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint on Long Island. Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway SAFE-T Team (Selective Alcohol Fatality Enforcement Team) conducted the joint operation in the LIRR parking lot in Central Islip located at 870 Suffolk Ave., from 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 until 2:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. The checkpoint was part of an ongoing Labor Day weekend enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol and drug-impaired driving. A total of 656 vehicles went through the checkpoint. …

Suspect Nabbed After 30-Year-Old From North Babylon Shot, Killed In Broad Daylight
A suspect has been apprehended after a fatal shooting in broad daylight outside a Long Island residence. It happened around 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in Brentwood. Joshua E. Jasmin, age 30, of North Babylon, was transported via Brentwood Legion Ambulance to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Following an investigation, Romeo Campbell, age 23, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Aug. 31.

A Long Island restaurant worker has been accused of forcible touching a teenage employee. Ismatullah Kamran, age 45, of Hicksville, while employed at Halal Urban Bites located in Farmingdale at 533 Fulton Street, inappropriately grabbed and forcibly touched a 15-year-old girl he recently hired, according to Nassau County Police. A Long Island man has been accused of possessing child pornography. Following tips from the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit detectives launched an investigation into the suspect from Deer Park. Home Invasion: Suspect At Large After Woman Injured In Suffolk County
A suspect is at large after a woman was injured during a home invasion on Long Island. It happened around 4:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, in East Hampton. An elderly woman was hospitalized as a result of the incident on Old Stone Highway, according to East Hampton Police. The suspect is described as a man wearing a dark-color, hooded sweatshirt. A Long Island man has been accused of possessing child porn. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation began the probe based on a cyber tip generated by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program.
