Closures, New Traffic Pattern Announced For Parkway On Long Island
Transportation officials have announced that a parkway on Long Island will be closed and a new traffic pattern lasting eight months will start.
Starting on Monday, Sept. 18, and lasting until Friday, Sept. 22, both directions of the Loop Parkway will be closed in Hempstead, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The closures, which are planned for the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and are weather-permitting, are to facilitate the steel deck replacement project on the drawbridge over Long Creek.

Both directions of the Long Island Expressway will be off-limits for construction, and the new traffic pattern is expected to last months, transportation officials said.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that from Monday, Sept. 11 to Wednesday, Sept. 13, both directions of I-495 at Exit 48 will be closed in Oyster Bay and Huntington.
The closures, which are scheduled for 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting, are to establish the new work zone and traffic pattern for a bridge deck renewal project.

Lane Closures Suspended Across NY For Holiday Weekend
Gov. Kathy Hochul, in anticipation of the upcoming holiday weekend, announced the suspension of all construction-related lane closures across the state.
From 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1 to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, all temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects across New York State will be suspended, the governor announced on Friday, Sept. 1.
The decision is meant to ease travel congestion over Labor Day Weekend, Hochul said.
