The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, or NYSPHSAA, announced its 2022-2023 “School of Distinction” list on Thursday, July 27.
Out of all 84 schools given the award, 35 were from Long Island.
In order to qualify, a high school must have 100 percent of its varsity teams qualify for a “Scholar-Athlete team award,” which designates that the team’s average GPA is greater than or equal to a 90.
The schools that made the cut from Suffolk County are:

- Comsewogue High School
- Earl L. Vandermeulen High School
- Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School
- Elwood/John Glenn High School
- Greenport High School
- Harborfields High School
- Islip High School
- Kings Park High School
- Miller Place High School
- Northport Senior High School
- Patchogue-Medford High School
- Pierson Middle/High School
- Sachem High School North
- Shelter Island School
- Shoreham-Wading River High School
- Smithtown High School West
- Walt Whitman High School
- Ward Melville Senior High School
