An emergency room doctor who worked in New York, including Long Island, and New Jersey and who twice survived cancer died a week after developing symptoms of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Dr. Frank Gabrin, 60, woke up with chest pain and other symptoms on Tuesday, March 24, his husband, Arnold Vargas, said.
On Tuesday, March 31, Gabrin woke up saying he couldn't breathe, and died later that day.

Westchester Man Fatally Stabbed By Co-Worker At Auto Dealership, Police Say
A Westchester man was allegedly stabbed to death by a co-worker at a car dealership.
Brandon Almonte, 22, of Yonkers, was found around 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, when New York City Police responded to a call of an assault in progress at the Riverdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram at 5869 Broadway in the Bronx, said the NYPD.
When officers arrived, they found Almonte unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple stab wounds to the neck, the NYPD said.
EMS responded and transported Almonte to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/The Allen Pavilion, where he was pronounced dead.

Westchester Pastor Charged In Brutal Killing Of Estranged Wife, DA Says
A 63-year-old pastor from Westchester has been charged with murder, manslaughter and other charges for allegedly running over his estranged wife and then hacking her with a machete.
Victor Mateo, of Yonkers, a pastor at the Christian Congregation The Redeemer Church in the Bronx, was arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 22, for the murder which took place on Thursday, Oct. 3, said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.
