A long-haul truck driver accused of killing his girlfriend outside a Long Island motel has been formally charged with murder.
Willie Hart, age 59, of Yaphank, was indicted for second-degree murder in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Oct. 16, in the death of 37-year-old Candice Woodruff earlier this year.
According to prosecutors, a witness saw Woodruff leave her room at the Shore Motor Inn, located in Patchogue on Eastbound Sunrise Service Road, at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, after arguing with Hart.

A Long Island man has been accused of murdering his girlfriend at a local motel earlier this year.
On Wednesday, May 29 just before 2:30 a.m., a 911 caller reported a woman not breathing at the Shore Motor Inn, located in Patchogue at 576 Eastbound Sunrise Service Road, Suffolk County Police said.
The woman, Candice Woodruff, age 37, of Katy, Texas, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 45-year-old man is facing felony charges after investigators said he burglarized a home, stole catalytic converters, and robbed a gas station on Long Island.
James O’Brien was arrested outside of his Medford home at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Detectives received information about a gas station robbery in Yaphank on Wednesday, Nov. 2, and located the suspect, identified as O'Brien, after an investigation, SCPD said.

Suffolk County Police To Auction Jewelry, Tools, Electronics
Police on Long Island announced plans to hold a property auction next week.
The Suffolk County Police Department said the auction will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Property Section, located at 30 Yaphank Ave. in Yaphank.
SCPD said the auction will begin at 9 a.m. and will include items such as jewelry, watches, tools, landscaping equipment, electronics, iPhones, and more.
A preview of the jewelry and other items will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, police said.
Participants have to be at least 18 years old to bid, SCPD said.
