A Long Island man has been convicted of intentionally running over another man with his vehicle in 2019.
Shatik Canady, age 43, of West Babylon, was convicted by a jury of murder on Thursday, June 17, for the death of Kawon Williams, 28, of Wyandanch in March 2019 in Lindenhurst.
“This was not a typical hit-and-run; the defendant deliberately pursued and struck the victim with his vehicle before fleeing the scene,” Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini said.

A woman who was driving drunk is facing multiple charges after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Long Island, police said.
The crash happened just before 1:45 a.m. Sunday, May 30 in Hempstead.
State Police said there was a report of a pedestrian struck on the southbound Meadowbrook State Parkway south of the Southern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
Upon arrival, the pedestrian was in the right lane and the vehicle involved was no longer at the scene, state police said.

A baby has died after suffering critical injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in Wyandanch.
A 2006 Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on Davidson Street, near Pine Street, when it collided with a westbound 2010 Lexus and overturned, Suffolk County Police said. The driver of the Murano fled the scene on foot.
A passenger in the Murano, 8-month-old Saige Berry, of Wyandanch, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition, according to police.

A Suffolk County woman was apprehended after assaulting an officer and a medic at a Walmart in Nassau County, police said.
Cindy Dosette, age 39, of Wyandanch, was involved in a verbal dispute with a male employee at the Walmart, located at 2465 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow on Saturday, April 24, Nassau County Police said.
