The incident occurred at 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 23 in West Hempstead. According to the detectives, who were on patrol at the time of the incident, two men were drinking alcohol and walking in the street near Woodfield Road. Person Killed In Overnight Hit-Run West Hempstead Crash Police are investigating a fatal overnight hit-and-run crash on Long Island. It happened around 3:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16 in West Hempstead. It happened around 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 in West Hempstead. A male pedestrian was crossing the street on Woodfield Road in the vicinity of Lindberg Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, Nassau County Police said.  The victim sustained serious head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
