Teen Assaults Security Officer During Long Island Walmart Attempted Robbery, Police Say
An 18-year-old assaulted and injured a security officer after attempting to rob a Long Island Walmart, police said.
It happened around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Valley Stream, Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, Maximo Burdier, 18, of South Ozone Park in Queens, entered Walmart located at 77 Green Acres Road and attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise.
Burdier was approached by loss prevention officers and a struggle ensued before Burdier was subdued, police said.

Three Charged After String Of Long Island Larcenies
Three people have been arrested following a string of 18 larcenies on Long Island.
Following an investigation, Suffolk County Police Third Precinct Crime Section officers arrested the trio in Brentwood on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:45 p.m.
Terron O’Connor, Christine Tacktill and Steven Jameau at were apprehended at EZ Pawn on Brentwood Road.
O’Connor, 39, of Ontario Street in Ronkonkoma, was charged with grand larceny, petit larceny and felony possession of stolen property.

Long Island law enforcement officials are assuring resident they are on high alert following the massacre of 31 people in two separate mass shooting incidents over the weekend.
The first shooting happened at a Walmart at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, just after 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 local time (and 1 p.m. Eastern time). In that incident, 22 people were killed and 26 injured.
Twelve hours later, at around 1 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, another gunman opened fire in the historic Oregon District in downtown Dayton, Ohio, killing nine people and injuring 37.
