With social distancing becoming a major point of emphasis amid the outbreak of the novel strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now recommending no gatherings of more than 50 people for at least the next two months. Twenty new cases of the novel strain of the coronavirus have been reported on Long Island the last 24 hours. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he's authorized mobile, drive-through testing facility that is expected to open next week at a sign to be announced on the Island. Nassau County Executive Declares State Of Emergency As

19 Cases Jump To 48
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran declared a state of emergency as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases jumped from 41 to 48. Curran announced the declaration early on Friday, March 13, which will permit her office to take emergency actions and increase spending to help contain the spread of COVID-19 on Long Island. Of the 48 confirmed cases, 34 are in the Town of Hempstead, 10 are from North Hempstead and four reside in Oyster Bay.
