Duo Accused Of Unlawfully Selling Fireworks After Foot Chase In Westchester A 24-year-old man speeding on I-87 in Westchester attempted to take New York State Police on a brief chase after being busted with illegal fireworks during a traffic stop on I-87. New York State Police troopers stopped Long Island resident Jonathan Mata, of Great Neck, at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, when he was clocked driving 93 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on I-87 in Tarrytown. Man Threw Lit Fireworks At Children In Pool In Wantagh, Police Say A Wantagh man was arrested for allegedly throwing a firework into a pool where four children were swimming. The incident took place around 8:15 p.m., Friday, June 7, when Nassau County Police responded to a call for a disturbance on Judith Court in Wantagh for a report of a firework being thrown, said the Nassau County Police. When officers arrived on the scene, the homeowner told police that a firework had been thrown into his backyard pool and exploded while his daughter and three of her friends were swimming, police said.
