Man Assaults Pair, Holds 1 Hostage On Long Island: Police
A Long Island man has been arrested after police say he assaulted a pair of people and held one of them hostage.
It happened on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police.
Just before 10:30 a.m., police responded to a home on Ohio Street, where 40-year-old John Howell of Hicksville was holding a woman, age 56, hostage inside.
Earlier in the morning, Howell had allegedly physically assaulted the woman and a 44-year-old man, even going as far as threatening them with a knife.

After assaulting his mother and sister, a Manorhaven man allegedly held them captive in his home for over an hour, authorities said.
The incident occurred when police responded to a domestic disturbance on Tuesday, May 2 at approximately 2 p.m., according to the Nassau County Police.
Inside the kitchen of his Kirkwood Road home, Timothy Ibanez, age 44, had gotten into an argument with his sister, age 41, and mother, age 75.

On Sunday, July 21 at 9:50 a.m., a 28-year-old woman, who is employed as a home health aide, rang the doorbell at the home of her male patient, 64, multiple times, said police.

An Elmont man was nabbed for breaking into an apartment and attempting to sexually abuse a juvenile girl who managed to escape.
The attack took place around 4:15 a.m., Sunday, June 30, when Alex Rivera, 24, allegedly entered an Elmont apartment and inappropriately touched the victim against her will, Nassau County Police said.
The victim fought with Rivera to get away several times before successfully escaping and alerting her parents of the intruder, police said.
