Duo Busted With Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop On Long Island, Police Say
A traffic stop on Long Island ended with a man and woman in handcuffs for weapons charges, authorities said.
Officers stopped the suspects’ Mercedes C320 just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Uniondale after observing a traffic infraction on Smith Street, Nassau County Police said.
While searching the vehicle, police reportedly found a loaded 9mm handgun inside.
The car’s registration and insurance had been suspended, police said.

47-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Police Car On Long Island
A 47-year-old man has died after being struck by a police vehicle on Long Island, authorities said.
The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in Uniondale, near Front Street and New York Avenue, according to Nassau County Police.
Investigators said Miguel Romero, age 47, of Uniondale, was attempting to cross southbound on Front Street when he was struck by an unmarked Nassau County Police vehicle, suffering multiple injuries, police said.
He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Officers were also treated for minor injuries, according to police.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a suspected arson at a Long Island college gymnasium while people were inside, authorities said.
Robert Iannone, of Baldwin, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 16, on suspicion of arson, Nassau County Police said.
