Long Island Man Nabbed During Fatal Overdose Investigation, Police Say
Police on Long Island have arrested a man in connection with a fatal overdose.
Holtsville resident Nicholas Mayfield, age 40, was nabbed in Uniondale at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Nassau County Police said.
According to police, Mayfield was taken into custody after authorities began investigating the fatal overdose death of a Nassau County resident.
Further details, including the victim’s name, were not released.

A man could spend the rest of his life behind bars for his back-to-back burglaries on Long Island.
Kevin Carroll, age 41, of Manhattan, was sentenced on Wednesday, Feb. 21 for his 2020 Uniondale burglaries, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
On the evening of June 22, 2020, Carroll forced open the back door of 429 Fenimore Avenue, a Uniondale boarding house that has both shared and single-occupancy rooms.

A man was arrested on Long Island weeks after he allegedly threatened a gas station employee with a gun – for only a few dollars' worth of gas, police said.
Roy Braithwaite, age 34 of Uniondale, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 15 for the Dec. 2023 incident, Nassau County Police said.
Just after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, Braithwaite walked into the Carle Place Lukoil gas Station, located at 500 Westbury Avenue, and tried to pay for gas using his debit card.

A Long Island driver who hit a man and drove away, leaving him on the street, has been arrested, police said.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 26 in Uniondale.
According to Nassau County Police, 68-year-old Robert Hauswald was driving his gray 2001 Mercury when, just before 7:30 p.m., he struck a man near the intersection of Front Street and Maple Avenue.
Hauswald, a Uniondale resident, allegedly continued driving, leaving his 60-year-old victim on the street, bleeding heavily from the right side of his face.
