A month after a female Mastiff dog was found tied to a light pole on the Southern State Parkway, police have arrested a suspect. Troopers were called after the animal was found abandoned near Exit 21 on the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead at around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1. Urgent Plea For Pet Adoptions Issued After More Than 70 Cats Rescued From Nassau County Home
An animal welfare organization has issued an urgent plea for help after more than 70 cats were rescued from a home on Long Island. The Nassau County SPCA said in a post on Friday, Oct. 8, that the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter needs help with the cats rescued from the Bellmore home. Malnourished Dog Found With Burn Marks On Long Island, SPCA Says
A dog that was found malnourished and with cigarette burns on Long Island is expected to survive, according to the SPCA. On Friday, Jan. 10, a white male Boxer mix was found in an open fenced yard on Princeton Street in Valley Stream. The dog was found to be extremely emaciated with several burn marks on the top of its head, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said.
