Police On Long Island Rescue Suicidal Man, Three People Whose Boat Capsized Police on Long Island responding to a suicidal man who had hung himself, found themselves at the same time working to save three people whose boat had capsized. The incidents began around 6 p.m. in the town of Southold when officers were alerted to a potentially suicidal man. Responding officers were told that the man was in possession of a handgun and would allegedly shoot responding officers and then himself, said Lt. Scott Latham, of the Southold Police.
