Cooking Oil Thefts: Duo Accused After Incidents At 9 Nassau County Restaurants Two men have been accused of stealing cooking oil from nine different Long Island restaurants. Nassau County Police officers responded to a report of a larceny of used cooking oil in progress on Friday, April 7.  Prior to arrival, officers observed a 2006 Isuzu white Box Truck matching the description.   Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop.  Two suspects were then placed under arrest: Melvin Howell, age 55, of Brooklyn; Rodney Lofton, age 49, of Queens. Suspect Nabbed After String Of Four Long Island Business Burglaries A 22-year-old man was nabbed for an alleged series of business burglaries just hours after police announced they were searching for a suspect. Nassau County Police arrested Gerard Conway around 4:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 30, for allegedly burglarizing four Westbury businesses on Sunday, Dec. 29, police said. According to detectives, Conway, of Westbury, allegedly used a flower pot to break the front door’s glass at the Pizza Hut in Westbury at 61 Old Country Road around 2:30 a.m., Sunday.
