Long Island Man Nabbed For Two Carjackings, One Attempted Theft, Police Say
A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly carjacking two vehicles and attempting to steal another while wearing only shorts and high on a hallucinogen. The incident began around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, in Suffolk County when a woman called the Riverhead Police to report that a man had just attempted to carjack her vehicle, said Detective Michael Schmidt of the Riverhead Police. A 9-year-old boy walking to school on Long Island was approached by a man who attempted to lure him into his vehicle, police said. Nassau County Police detectives said that the boy was walking to school on Park Avenue near the intersection of New York Avenue in New Cassel at shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, when he was approached by a grown man. Suspicious Fire At Manorhaven Beach Park Pool Under Investigation
An investigation is underway after a fire determined to be suspicious broke out at Manorhaven Beach Park Pool, Nassau County Police said. The fire began just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at a shed of the facility on Manorhaven Boulevard in Manorhaven. After the Port Washington Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, the Nassau County PD Arson/Bomb Squad was called to the scene to investigate. No injuries were reported.
