21-Year-Old From Peconic Charged With DWI After Southold Crash Sends 3 To Hospital A Long Island man has been accused of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle crash resulted in three people being hospitalized. Officers responded to a report of a crash on Route 48 in Southold at about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Upon arrival, officers found a pickup truck that had struck a tree with three passengers suffering injuries from the collision, Southold Police said.  As a result of an investigation at the scene, the driver, Nicholas Grathwohl, age 21, of Peconic, was transported to SUNY Stony Brook Hospital and charged with driving while intoxicated. Boater Injured By Propeller After Leaving Boat In Gear, Police Say A 57-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by the propeller of an 18-foot boat that he had rented for the day in Great Peconic Bay off Laurel. The incident took place around 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, when the man, identified as Stefan Palm, a visitor from Germany, entered the water to take a turn on a water tube and failed to realize that the boat had been left in gear, said the Southhold Police Department.
