Driver Going 95 MPH On LIE After 'Glass Of Wine' Among 6 Thanksgiving Weekend DWI Busts: Cops The long Thanksgiving weekend included a stint in jail for several people accused of driving drunk on Long Island roadways. Six suspects were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Suffolk County between Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 26, according to sheriff’s officials. Among them was 33-year-old Richard Pino, of Nesconset, who was busted going 95 miles-per-hour eastbound on the Long Island Expressway in Brookhaven, deputies said. Long Island Man In Stolen Vehicle Caught After Driving 122 MPH, Crashing: Police A Long Island man is in trouble for not just driving a stolen vehicle, but also traveling at more than 120 mph in traffic during a fast-paced chase, police said.  On Thursday, Dec. 8 around 12:30 a.m., police in Suffolk County saw a vehicle pass by their cruiser at 90 mph traveling east in Brookhaven on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) and then attempted to pull it over, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.  The vehicle did not stop though and proceeded to accelerate to 122 mph while dangerously weaving through traffic on the highway. Long Island To Get $30.6M In State Funding For Pavement Restoration Projects Millions of dollars are being invested for pavement restoration projects on major roadways on Long Island. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a $30.6 million investment in pavement restoration projects to repair portions of five state roads in both Nassau and Suffolk counties totaling approximately 20 miles. According to Cuomo, “the projects will improve driving conditions and enhance safety along key roadways for the flow of people and goods on Long Island.”
