Men Faked Mass Armed Robberies So 'Victims' Could Get Immigration Protection: FBI
Two New York men are accused of staging at least eight fake robberies so the store owners could receive immigration benefits, authorities said.
Long Island resident Rambhai Patel, age 36, of Farmingdale, and New York City Balwinder Singh, age 39, of Queens, are charged with conspiracy to commit visa fraud, the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts said. FBI agents said they linked the men to four robberies in Massachusetts, two in Pennsylvania, and one in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Know Him? Police On Long Island Seeking To ID Armed Subway Shop Robber
Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who robbed a Long Island eatery earlier this month.
According to Suffolk County Police, the man entered the Deer Park Subway, located at 1934A Deer Park Ave., on Tuesday, March 7, walked up to the counter, displayed what appeared to be a black handgun to an employee, and demanded cash from the register.
The man, who was described as being Black, about 30 years old, with dark clothing and a face mask, made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Fairfield County's Peter Buck, Subway Co-Founder, Dies At Danbury Hospital
Fairfield County's Peter Buck, who became a billionaire after making a small investment in the sandwich shop that later became Subway, has died.
Buck, a longtime Danbury resident, died Thursday, Nov. 18, at Danbury Hospital, the company announced. A cause of death was not released. He was 90 years old.

Three suspects are facing charges for their roles in a string of armed robberies at Long Island businesses over the course of more than a week, police said.
Suffolk County Police investigators announced the arrest of three people in connection to multiple armed robberies and an attempted robbery that took place in the department’s Third, Fifth, and Seventh Precincts.
The alleged robberies and attempted robbery happened between Wednesday, Sept. 22, and Thursday, Sept. 30.

Worker Accused Of Sexually Abusing Girl At Long Island Restaurant
An employee at a Long Island Subway restaurant has been accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.
Dipak Patel, age 39, approached the girl and forcibly grabbed her inappropriately while working at the Subway in Merrick, at 1341 Jerusalem Ave., at around 7:25 p.m. Friday, June 4, Nassau County Police said.
Officers then responded to the scene and placed Patel under arrest without further incident, said police.

Long Island Man Indicted For String Of Burglaries, ATM Theft, DA Says
A Long Island man faces up to 15 in prison for a string of alleged commercial burglaries in November 2020.
Kieran Fichtner, age 27, of St. James, was arraigned last week on charges associated with the burglaries, as well as for the alleged theft of an ATM machine along with an accomplice, an accomplice, Michael Parise, 46, of Stony Brook, said Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini.

Suspect Nabbed For 10 Long Island Business Burglaries
A suspect has been accused of burglarizing 10 Long Island businesses.
Canine Section Officer Sean Clarke and his partner Brock were on patrol in Stony Brook in response to recent overnight burglaries when Clarke observed the suspect break the glass door of Subway, located in Stony Brook at 2350 Route 347, at approximately 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, Suffolk County Police said.

Suspect Apprehended After Robberies At Long Island Subway Shop
A suspect is now in custody after two robberies at a Subway sandwich shop on Long Island.
The most recent robbery at the shop in Franklin Square happened on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8:10 p.m., Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Jerry Torres, of Franklin Square, entered the store located at 679 Franklin Ave. Once inside, he pointed a small dark handgun at a 35-year-old female customer, pushing and ordering her to the rear of the shop, behind the counter, police said.
