Car Strike Seriously Injures Woman In Long Island: Police A 78-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Bay Shore, Suffolk County police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Marie Lanfrit, of Bay Shore, was crossing Spur Drive North when a 2005 Ford, driven by 65-year-old Ken Anthony of Central Islip, hit her at 5:45 p.m., authorities said. The crash happened as Anthony attempted to turn left onto the eastbound lanes of Spur Drive North from Fifth Avenue, according to police. Man Struck, Killed While Walking On Long Island Street A man has died after being struck by a car while walking on a Long Island street. Emergency crews in Bay Shore were called at around 6:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, with reports that a pedestrian had been struck on Spur Drive North near Bentwood Road, according to Suffolk County Police. Investigators said 87-year-old Jose Guaman, of Bay Shore, was walking westbound on the shoulder of Spur Drive North when he was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado turning from Brentwood Road.
