Local Woman Driving Drunk Charged After Fatal Hit-Run Long Island Crash, Police Say
A woman who was driving drunk is facing multiple charges after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Long Island, police said.
The crash happened just before 1:45 a.m. Sunday, May 30 in Hempstead.
State Police said there was a report of a pedestrian struck on the southbound Meadowbrook State Parkway south of the Southern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
Upon arrival, the pedestrian was in the right lane and the vehicle involved was no longer at the scene, state police said.

21-Year-Old Killed After Car Crashes Off Long Island Roadway, Into Trees, Police Say
A 21-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, on the Southern State Parkway at exit 40 in the town of Islip.
The victim, Christopher Gutierrez, of Brentwood, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle, a 2017 Subaru, left the roadway, striking a line of trees, New York State Police said.
Gutierrez sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to police.
The collision is still under investigation and the state police are asking anyone who witnessed or with information to call 631-756-3300.
IDs Released Of Four Killed, Several Injured In Wrong-Way Southern State Parkway Crash
State Police have identified the four people killed in a horrific wrong-way Long Island crash that happened just before daybreak on a busy stretch of the Southern State Parkway, according to state police.
It involved several vehicles and happened on the eastbound side at around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the area of Exit 29, in the town of Oyster Bay, said state police.
