Video: 17-Year-Old Rescues Long Island Woman Who Drove Vehicle Into Bay
A Long Island teenager is being credited with saving an 18-year-old woman who drove her car into Patchogue Bay.
Suffolk County Police said Mia Samolinksi, of Patchogue, was driving a Subaru Outback in a parking lot near South Ocean Avenue at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 14.
At some point, she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, sending the vehicle right into the water, according to police.
Fortunately for her, 17-year-old Anthony Zhongor, of Patchogue, witnessed the accident and dove into the water after her, police said.

Officer Critically Injured After Being Stabbed By Man Following Long Island Crash, Police Say
A Long Island man has been apprehended after police say he stabbed a uniformed officer after a motor vehicle crash, leaving the cop in critical condition.
A Suffolk County PD Fifth Precinct officer in a marked unit in Patchogue observed a 1999 Mercedes-Benz, driven by Jonathan Nunez, age 25, of Centereach, driving erratically with no headlights on southbound South Ocean Avenue Saturday, April 10, at approximately 10:40 p.m., according to police.
The officer activated his overhead lights in an attempt to pull over the vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.

Man Hit By BMW, Shot Behind Row Of Long Island Businesses
Police are investigating an incident during which a man was struck by a vehicle and then shot, leading to school lockouts on Long Island.
According to detectives, the incident took place around 10:20 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Patchogue, said the Suffolk County Police.
During the incident, a 35-year-old man was struck by a BMW and then shot by the driver of the vehicle.
Detectives believe the incident is related to an earlier dispute, police said.
The incident occurred in an alley located off South Ocean Avenue, just south of Main Street.
