Tragic Ending: Man Found Dead In Waters Off Long Island More Than Week After Going Missing
The search for a Long Island man who disappeared more than a week ago has ended in tragedy. Search crews recovered the body of 45-year-old Pierre Morris, of Far Rockaway, Wednesday morning, Nov. 30, in the waters off the east end of Fire Island, according to Suffolk County Police. Marine Bureau officers found him at around 11:40 a.m. off Smith Point County Park near Shirley, police said. Morris, an employee of H&L Contracting of Hauppauge, was reported missing Friday, Nov. 18. Deer Rescued From Icy Waters In Suffolk County
Using an ice sled and lines, police rescued a deer that had fallen through the ice on a Long Island bay. The incident began around 4:18 p.m., when a Smith Point Park Ranger reported a deer stuck in the ice at Narrow Bay, off Smith Point County Park, in Shirley, said the Suffolk County Police. Police officers from the department's Marine Unit responded including Robert Daniels, Robert King, and Gary Quenzer responded.
