Man Threatens Officer With Assault Rifle on Long Island, Police Say
A Long Island man is accused of threatening to harm a police officer with an assault rifle, authorities said. A Nassau County Police sergeant phoned Donald Schreiner, aged 34, of Oceanside, at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 to follow up on a complaint Schreiner had submitted, according to police. Over the phone, Schreiner allegedly threatened to harm the officer with an assault rifle he owned. Officers then responded to Schreiner’s home and arrested him without incident. A Long Island man has been accused of killing a dog during a video call and threatening a family member. A 23-year-old man found a Chihuahua that had escaped from its Central Islip home on Sunday, May 9, Suffolk County Police said. After keeping the dog for nearly a month, the man contacted a family member via FaceTime on Tuesday, June 1, and strangled the dog, killing it, while threatening his family member during the video call, according to police. A Long Island teenager has been charged with a hate crime after allegedly punching another teen and making inappropriate comments at a local shopping mall, police said. During a dispute between two groups of teens at the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station on Saturday, May 29, Suffolk County Police investigators said a 13-year-old boy punched another 13-year-old in the face and made biased comments. A man has been accused of threatening to blow up a local police department on Long Island. The Kings Point Police Department said it received a phone call from Michael Mortman, age 61, of Rockaway Park, Queens, on Thursday, May 20 at around 10:30 p.m. During that call, Mortman "made a verbal threat to blow up the Kings Point Police Department," Nassau County Police said. LI Man Sets Fire To House After Sending Texts To Family Members Threatening Self Harm
A Long Island man threatened "suicide by cop" and ultimately set a house on fire when officers arrived to check on his welfare after his family reported that he had sent them text messages threatening to harm himself.
