Truck Hauling Asphalt Overturns, 6 Hospitalized On Long Island: Police A truck carrying asphalt overturned at a busy Old Westbury intersection on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, colliding with a school bus and SUV and sending six people, including two children, to the hospital, police said. The crash occurred at 3:22 p.m. at the intersection of Store Hill Road (LIE North Service Road) and Post Road, according to Old Westbury Police Chief Stuart Cameron. Girl Hospitalized After Incident Involving Mini School Bus In Nassau County A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized after she lost her balance while riding a bicycle and struck the side of a mini-school bus. The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, in Roosevelt. The bus, which was driven by a 44-year-old woman, was traveling eastbound on West Greenwich Avenue. The crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, July 3, in Hauppauge, at Exit 57, on the eastbound off-ramp to Express Drive South. A garbage truck rear-ended a school bus and three other vehicles that were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Motor Parkway, according to Suffolk County Police. School Bus Crash: 13 Children, Driver Suffer Injuries On Long Island A crash between a school bus and a pickup truck on Long Island sent 13 students and the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital. The crash took place in Nassau County around 3:30 p.m., Monday, May 1 in East Meadow on Old Westbury Road. According to Nassau County Police officers, a 2009 Toyota pickup truck traveling southbound on Old Westbury Road was in a collision with a 2005 school bus in the vicinity of Melanie Drive. No Injuries In Hawthorne School Bus Fire No injuries were reported when a fire broke out on a school bus in Hawthorne Wednesday afternoon. Seven children and the driver were removed from the bus on Rea Avenue between 1st Avenue and Goffle Road around 5:20 p.m., as firefighters put out the blaze under the rear wheels, witnesses said. Hawthorne police and fire officials were not immediately available for comment.
