1 Woman Killed, Another Seriously Injured In 2-Vehicle West Islip Crash
One woman was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle Long Island crash. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11 in West Islip. The driver of a 2023 Infiniti Q50 was traveling westbound on Union Boulevard, just east of Route 231, when the vehicle lost control and side-swiped a westbound 2020 Hyandai Sonata causing both vehicles to crash, Suffolk County Police said. Missing Centereach Man Found Dead
Update: A 45-year-old Long Island man who went missing earlier this month has been found dead, Suffolk County Police announced Friday morning, July 26. The body of Thomas Kelsey of Centereach was discovered in his vehicle in West Islip on Thursday, July 25. A passerby observed the vehicle in a ravine off Route 231 and called 911 at approximately 8:30 p.m., police said. Long Island's State Highways Getting $19 Million In Safety Enhancements
Ten parkways and state routes on Long Island are getting more than $19 million in safety improvements, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, June 19. The road projects, in Nassau and Suffolk counties, include repairing pavement, installing guide rails and replacing signs. West Islip Man Injured In Chain Reaction Wrong-Way Crash In North Babylon
A chain-reaction wrong-way crash that injured a West Islip man in North Babylon was likely caused by a medical incident, Suffolk County Police said. The crash occurred Sunday afternoon, June 16 when police say Robert Wolf of West Islip was driving a 2007 Chevy Malibu on Sunrise Highway South Service Road when the vehicle entered Sunrise Highway, just west of Route 231, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, Suffolk County Police said.
