An alleged phone scammer convinced a Long Island woman to fork over tens of thousands of dollars, police said. Nassau County Police said the 65-year-old Roslyn Heights woman contacted the agency on Wednesday, Oct. 16, saying she had been the victim of a scam. She told investigators that she received a call from “Amazon” regarding her iPad and was directed to speak with a purported agent at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to report fraud. Woman Killed After Being Struck By Jeep On Nassau County Roadway
An investigation is underway after a woman was hit and killed by a man driving a Jeep Cherokee while walking along a roadway. The incident took place in Nassau County around 8 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Roslyn Heights as the 56-year-old woman walked along Roslyn Road at Willets Road. According to Nassau County Police, the woman was struck by a southbound 2018 Jeep Cherokee that was being driven by a 30-year-old man. A would-be burglar didn’t make it far after allegedly attempting to rob a Long Island restaurant then fleeing the scene on a bicycle with a flat tire, police said.
