More than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases are being reported on Long Island as both Nassau and Suffolk counties continue combating the resurgence of the virus.
In Suffolk County, 1,667 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday, Jan. 11, bringing the total to 117,156 since the pandemic began, according to the state Department of Health. There were 1,419 new infections in Nassau as the total rose to 105,497 as of Tuesday, Jan. 12.
The number of new cases is the highest of any county in the state outside of New York City.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested for a long list of crimes, including the robbery of a Chase Bank on Long Island.
Brian Quinn, age 45, of Rockville Center, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 11, following the attempted robbery of a Chase Bank in Oceanside, and the robbery of another Chase Bank in Baldwin, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, an unknown male, later identified as Quinn, entered the Chase Bank located at 3285 Long Beach Road, and approached the teller, and demanded money, police said.

Long Island reported more than 10,000 new positive COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with more than 4,500 in both Nassau and Suffolk.
