Don't Say 'Inmate': NY Law Changes Term For Those Housed In State Prisons
Convicted criminals who spend time in New York prisons will no longer be officially referred to as “inmates.” Gov. With just days remaining of his time in the Executive Mansion in Albany, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a series of midnight clemency orders to 10 felons, including three tied to homicides. The police officer who was seriously injured in a fatal crash with a drunk driver has been released from the hospital. Suffolk County Police Officer Christian Vidal was released from Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday, Sept. 27 around 10:30 a.m., officials say. Police say Vidal was driving northbound on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore when a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and struck his vehicle on Sunday, Sept. 1.
