Here's How Many Volunteers Are Working This Week's PGA Championship At Bethpage
Thousands of men and women of all size, shapes and ages are busy this week working long hours as the championship rounds start at the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. In total, approximately 3,600 volunteers will work various jobs at the course, while the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson hit the links and vie for the second major of the season. Dozens more are on a waiting list. The volunteers each paid a $175 fee and will work a minimum of four shifts of four hours each. Long Island is ready to welcome the world’s best golfers when it hosts the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black next week. Though the action won’t kick off until Monday, May 13, a 60,000-square-foot PGA Shops merchandising tent will be set up on the course, open to the public beginning on Friday, May 10, featuring anything a golf fan could hope for. The venue will be located near the Main Spectator Entrance, along the walkway. Beat The Traffic: Here Are Best Ways To Get To PGA Championship At Bethpage Black
The MTA is offering a variety of ways for golf fans to get to Bethpage Black for the PGA Championship. Extra train service has been added to accommodate the tens of thousands of expected spectators that are anticipated to flood Farmingdale for the tournament from Monday, May 13 through Sunday, May 19. According to the MTA, as many as 18,000 fans per day are expected to use the LIRR to reach the tournament, and there will be no parking available at the course. Some Tickets Still Available For PGA Championship At Bethpage Black
There are still some tickets on the market for one of sports' marquee events that is being hosted on Long Island. With the PGA Championship heading to Bethpage Black in Farmingdale from Monday, May 13, through Sunday, May 19, some tickets are still available for both the practice rounds (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) and championship rounds (Thursday and Friday). Tickets for the main event on Saturday and Sunday have been sold out for some time, as are week-long grounds tickets.
