A Long Island woman was charged after allegedly hitting and spitting on police officers when her son was pulled over for a traffic stop.
The incident took place around 2 p.m., Monday, July 4 in Levittown.
Melinda Medina, age 47, of Levittown, was arrested after police pulled over her 20-year-old son for having an expired tag and inspection sticker, said the Nassau County Police.
During the stop, Median arrived on the scene and became aggressive toward the officers, police said.

A man is in custody after police say he crashed into two vehicles, including a patrol cruiser, while he was impaired by drugs during a pursuit on Long Island, police said.
Officers responded to the Hicksville Middle School, located on Jerusalem Avenue, at around 6:15 a.m. Friday, March 13 for a report of a vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot that had left prior to police arrival., according to Nassau County Police.

A Long Island teenager is facing a host of charges after allegedly using a traffic cone as a weapon and attacking a police officer, officials announced.
Nassau County Police detectives in Freeport were conducting an investigation on Queen Street at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, when they were approached by 19-year-old Daysi Sanchez Martinez.
According to police, Martinez, a Freeport resident, approached the detectives with an orange traffic cone, swung it at one, striking him in the arm and causing a minor injury.

Long Island Man Injures Officer While Being Booked On Domestic Violence Charge, Police Say
A Long Island man was arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer following his arrest for domestic violence.
Kenneth Lewis, age 36, of Hempstead, was arrested around 7:20 a.m., Sunday, July 18, while being processed for a domestic incident in Baldwin, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Lewis became physically combative with the officers. As a result, one of the officers received injuries to his left wrist.
The officer was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
