A man has been arrested on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol after a chain-reaction Long Island Expressway crash sent four others to the hospital overnight. The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, on the eastbound side, about 1,000 feet east of Nicolls Road in Holtsville. Police say Matthew Sheehy, age 46, of East Setauket, was driving a 2022 Dodge pickup when he struck a disabled 2010 Chrysler Town and Country parked on the right shoulder. After Crashing Into Police Vehicle
A pickup truck driver was allegedly under the influence of drugs when he struck a police cruiser on Long Island, sending an officer to the hospital, police said. Suffolk County resident Robert Haff, Jr., of Oakdale, was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 truck north on Nicolls Road approximately a half-mile north of the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, when he rear-ended a marked police vehicle.
