Woman Crossing Busy Long Island Intersection Struck, Killed By Car A woman crossing a busy Long Island intersection was struck and killed by a car. It happened on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 8:05 p.m. in Manhasset. While attempting to cross Plandome Road, from the east side to the west side, a woman was struck by a 2018 Toyota traveling northbound in the vicinity of Park Avenue. The 79-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:52 pm by a hospital physician. The female operator, 79, remained at the scene. The vehicle was brake and safety checked. The investigation is ongoing.

According to detectives, while attempting to purchase drugs from two juvenile subjects, ages 16 and 17, the victim, also 17, was assaulted by the 16-year-old with a knife, causing him to suffer severe lacerations to both of his hands, police said.  The suspects then took $30 from the victim and left the scene. The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30 in Manhasset. According to Nassau County Police detectives, the 2014 Mercedes, operated by a 41-year-old woman, struck the 79-year-old victim near the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Allen Drive.  The victim suffered multiple assorted injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
