Long Island Man Convicted in Fatal 2018 Shooting
A Long Island man has been convicted of murdering a 30-year-old acquaintance in a 2018 daytime shooting, the District Attorney announced.
Following a nearly two-week trial, Jamik Cannon, age 28, of Hempstead, was convicted by a jury for his role in the fatal shooting of Demetrius Winfield in October 2018.
Specifically, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said that Cannon was found guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Cannon’s trial began on Monday, May 3, and the conviction was announced on Friday, May 14.

A Long Island man has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the vicious murder of his boyfriend in June 2019.
Ryan Lindquist, age 23, of Massapequa, was sentenced Wednesday, April 28, in connection with the murder of Evan Grabelsky who he stabbed more than 150 times, said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.
Lindquist pleaded guilty to the murder last month.

A Long Island soccer coach has been arraigned on a 50-count grand jury indictment for allegedly raping an underage player and endangering the welfare of two other teens.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said Sean Johnsen, age 35, of Valley Stream, was charged with 23 counts of rape, 23 counts of a criminal sex act, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
