Covid-19: Long Island Sees 10K New Cases Over Weekend; Here's Brand-New Breakdown By Community
Long Island reported more than 10,000 new positive COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with more than 4,500 in both Nassau and Suffolk.
In Suffolk County, 5,688 new COVID-19 cases were reported over the weekend, bringing the total to 113,943 since the pandemic began, according to the state Department of Health. There were 4,838 new infections in Nassau as the total rose to 102,584 as of Monday, Jan. 11.
The number of new cases is the highest of any county in the state outside of New York City.

For the fourth straight day, Long Island saw nearly 4,000 newly reported COVID-19 cases as both Suffolk and Nassau reported more than 1,600 apiece.
There were 2,194 new COVID-19 cases in Suffolk and 1,634 in Nassau - both the highest in the state behind only New York City's 6,387 - according to the latest data from the state Department of Health on Friday, Jan. 8.
A total of 3,827 COVID-19 cases were confirmed across Long Island.
The death toll in Suffolk is at 2,410 and Nassau has reached 2,452 virus-related deaths since the pandemic began.

Four Charged In Connection With Long Island Overdose Death, Police Say
Four people, including three Long Island residents, have been arrested in connection with an alleged overdose death on Long Island.
The four were arrested around 10 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, in Woodmere, in connection with the fatal overdose of a Nassau County resident said the Nassau County Police.
Those arrested included Krystal Incigeri, age 28, of Valley Stream, Jasmine Morales, 26, Lynbrook, Angela Aragona, 27, Valley Stream, and Avante Lester, 27, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Incigeri was charged with criminal facilitation and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Covid-19: Long Island Sees Slight Uptick In Cases, Here's Breakdown By Towns
Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 0.8 percent;
