An alleged 25-year-old member of the Bloods street gang is facing charges for racketeering and a double homicide near a Long Island Railroad station, U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue announced.
Farmingville resident Taheem Smith - also known as “Ta” - was arraigned in Central Islip federal court on an 11-count indictment charging him with racketeering, murders in aid of racketeering of David Arzu and Janelle Curella, robbery, weapons charges, and drug possession and distribution.

Uniondale Man Holds Up Gas Station At Gunpoint For Pack Of Cigars, Police Say
A Nassau County man wanted a smoke when he allegedly held up a Valero gas station with a gun for a pack of cigars, Nassau County Police said.
The robbery took place around 8:35 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Valero gas station on Manor Parkway, said police.
According to detectives, Michael Ammino, 40, entered the gas station and approached the male store clerk and demanded a pack of cigars located behind the counter.
Ammino then motioned towards his waistband and threatened to shoot the victim if he did not comply, police said.
