Woman Seriously Injured In Crash On Long Island Expressway
A woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway, which caused gridlock during the morning commute. The crash took place in Yaphank around 5:20 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27 on the westbound side. According to the Suffolk County Police, Nassau County resident Josephine Carroll, age 53, of Bethpage, was driving a 2015 Nissan near Exit 67, when her vehicle struck the rear of a 2016 Kenwood tractor-trailer that was stopped in traffic for construction. Oceanside Man Killed In Fiery 2-Vehicle Long Island Expressway Crash In Plainview
Police are investigating a fatal overnight crash on the Long Island Expressway. It happened just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Nassau County. An occupied 1999 Ford Explorer was stopped in the westbound HOV lane at Exit 48 in Plainview when the vehicle's rear was struck by a 2018 Kia Sportage travelling in the same direction, Nassau County Police said. Upon impact the 1999 Ford Explorer caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, said police. 'Smoother Roads Are Ahead': $80.1M Long Island Expressway Resurfacing Project Completed
State officials announced that an $80.1 million resurfacing project on the Long Island Expressway was completed one month ahead of schedule. Gov. Kathy Hochul said the project to resurface the LIE from the Nassau-Suffolk border to State Route 112 in Suffolk County was finished on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 20. State officials issued an alert about upcoming lane closures on a stretch of the Long Island Expressway. A stretch of the Long Island Expressway is set to close for pavement resurfacing. A man was killed after being struck by a FedEx truck on a Long Island Expressway service road. The crash happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 in North Hills.
