Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Entire Region, With Damaging Wind Gusts Possible
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for the entire region.
Damaging winds with gusts that could cause power outings are the main threat, the National Weather Service said in issuing the alert. Flash flooding, frequent lightning and large hail are possible.
It lasts until 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, for these areas:
Long Island,
Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties in the Hudson Valley,
All of New York City,
Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex, Tolland, and New London counties in Connecticut.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for much of the region.
It lasts until 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, and covers Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Columbia counties in New York, Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, Tolland, New London, and Middlesex counties in Connecticut, and all of Massachusetts except Cape Cod, and northeast Pennsylvania. Large Bear Killed After Being Struck By Two Vehicles In Connecticut
A large black bear was killed after being hit by two vehicles on Route 202 in Connecticut.
The crash took place around 9:30 p.m., Friday, May 30, in Litchfield County, on Route 202 in the Town of Litchfield, near the Torrington line, said Will Healy with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
There were no major injuries to the drivers of the vehicles, the bear was deceased upon DEEP EnCon Police arriving at the scene, Healy said.
The bear was untagged and uncollared, estimated to be between 175-200 pounds.

As a Nor'easter that will bring rain and wind to the entire region and sleet, freezing rain and ice farther inland approaches, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of the area.
Areas south of I-84, including Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk and Fairfield counties, as well as most of Putnam County, could see a bit of sleet mixed with rain when the potent storm arrives between midnight and 3 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, but is expected to be all rain after that time frame.
